Our client is searching for an experienced Systems Engineer to design, deploy, and support a variety of Windows, VMWare, and enterprise storage systems.
Responsibilities:
- Administer core infrastructure services including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, Exchange, Lync, RemoteApp, VMware, SCCM/SCOM, backups and compliance, file servers and permissions, certificates, and a variety of enterprise storage systems.
- Deploy and administer physical and virtual Windows servers, VMWare host servers, and the storage used to support these systems.
- Perform problem resolution, root cause analysis, and implement projects to reduce future issues for the above systems and technologies.
- General administration of shared folders, group policy, DNS records, VM deployments, storage expansion and cleanup, and various other day-to-day activities.
- Implement automation and scripting to reduce manual tasks and provide proactive alerting to get ahead of outages.
- Research, test, and implement new/updated technologies.
- Act as point of escalation to service desk for more complex issues.
- Work with other teams within the organization on hardware specification and provisioning.
- Document systems and specialized configurations for ease of support within the team.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience administering Windows Server and associated services, VMware, and enterprise storage devices. Broad exposure to these technologies is strongly preferred over specialization in one area.
- Solid knowledge of and previous experience using scripting technologies (i.e. PowerShell).
- Experience maintaining/deploying/configuring/troubleshooting server hardware.
- Strong knowledge of network protocols and technologies.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve production problems while making sensible decisions in times of stress.
- Ability to work well within a team in a fast-paced, rapidly-changing environment. Willingness to pivot to new tasks at a moment’s notice.
- Previous experience working in the trading industry a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to interface with highly-technical end users.
- Proven ability to learn and a passion for new technologies.
- Must have strong work ethic and initiative and the ability to independently manage allocation of time and prioritization of tasks.
- Must possess the desire and ability to organize and drive projects to completion.
- Respond to issues after hours and weekends on a set on-call rotation.
